SDG 3 Flashcards
TARGETS/KEY FEATURES
- reduce maternal mortality
- strengthen prevention and treatment of substance abuse
- halve global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents
- end preventable newborn and child deaths
increase health financing and health workforce in research and development - end the epidemics of HIV, TB, Hepatitis, NTD’s, malaria and waterborne + communicable diseases
- reduce mortality from NCD and promote mental htw
- universal access to sexual and reproductive healthcar services
main target
achieve universal health coverage
relationship between SDG 1 and SDG 3
if poverty can be eradicated –> rates of mortality from NCD and mental health and wellbeing can be reduced as people will be able to afford access to healthcare services
relationship between SDG 3 and SDG 1
the target of providing universal health cover as part of sdg 3 can help end poverty by ensuring all people have access to essential meds, vaccines and healthcare at an affordable price
relationship between SDG 2 and SDG 3
If we can end all forms of malnutrition (SDG2) then we may reduce preventable child deaths (SDG3) as children will no longer die from malnourishments.
relationship between SDG 3 and SDG 2
well nourished mothers are likely to give birth to healthy babies, resulting in a healthier population, this can reduce the demand for health services and corresponding costs to the healthcare systems
relationship between SDG 4 and SDG 3
if all children complete free equitable and quality primary and secondary education, they will be educated on many issues such as substance abuse and its repercussions, therefore the prevention of substance abuse can be achieved
relationship between SDG 3 and SDG 4
if mortality rates from ncd’s are reduced, more children are able to access education, ensuring all youth and adults have adequate literacy and numeracy skills
relationship between SDG 5 and SDG 3
thruogh the elimination of harmful practices such as child marriages, maternal mortality rates can be reduced as less young females will be giving birth and dying as a result of being unable to cope with it
relationship between SDG 3 and SDG 5
if the epidemics of waterborne and communicable diseases are ended, women can ensure full and effective participation and pursue opportunities for leadership
relationship between SDG 6 and SDG 3
through achievening universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, there will be less contaminated water containing disease causing pathogens, contributing to the end of the epidemic of waterborne and communicable diseases
relationship between SDG 3 and SDG 6
if deaths are reduced from water pollution, water quality then is simultaneously improved, through minimisiing the release of hazardous chemicals + materials and eliminating dumping
