A
- a new set of goals and targets were needed when the MDG’s ended in 2015
- progress in all areas was uneven across regions and countries, leaving millions of people behind especially the poor and disadvantaged due to sex, disability, geo location, ethnicity
- new global challenges arising such as extremism, impact of conflict, economic and financial instability and large scale environmental changes. these have the ability to undermine the achievements made through the MDG
