What is a Burn-down Chart?
A chart showing the amount of work remaining in a backlog over time.
Time is on the horizontal axis and work remaining on the vertical axis. The amount of work may be assessed in various ways such as user story points or task hours.
What does a Burn-up Chart display?
A chart showing the amount of work completed over time.
Time is on the horizontal axis and work completed on the vertical axis. It may also indicate the amount of work in-scope.
Define Coherence in the context of Product Backlog items.
The quality of the relationship between certain Product Backlog items that make them worthy of consideration as a whole.
What is the purpose of a Daily Scrum?
A 15-minute time-boxed event for Developers to plan work for the next 24 hours.
It optimizes team collaboration and performance by inspecting past work and forecasting upcoming work.
What is the Definition of Done?
A formal description of the state of the Increment when it meets quality measures required for the product.
Who is considered a Developer in Scrum?
Any member of a Scrum Team committed to creating any aspect of a usable Increment each Sprint.
What is Emergence in Scrum?
The process of new facts or knowledge coming into existence or prominence unexpectedly.
Define Empiricism.
The philosophy that all knowledge originates in experience and observations.
What are Engineering Standards?
A shared set of development and technology standards applied by Developers to create releasable Increments of software.
What is a Forecast in Scrum?
The selection of items from the Product Backlog deemed feasible for implementation in a Sprint.
What is an Increment in Scrum?
The complete and valuable work produced by Developers during a Sprint.
What does the Product Backlog consist of?
An ordered list of the work to be done to create, maintain, and sustain a product.
What is Product Backlog refinement?
The activity in a Sprint where the Product Owner and Developers add granularity to the Product Backlog.
What is the role of the Product Owner?
Accountable for maximizing the value of a product by managing and expressing business and functional expectations.
What is the Product Goal?
Describes a future state of the product that serves as a target for the Scrum Team.
Define ‘Ready’ in Scrum.
A shared understanding by the Product Owner and Developers regarding the preferred level of description of Product Backlog items.

What does it mean for a Scrum Team to be Self-Managing?

An overview of the development work to realize a Sprint’s goal, managed by the Developers.

A time-boxed event to start a Sprint where the Scrum Team inspects valuable work from the Product Backlog.

The Scrum Team and stakeholders inspect the Increment and assess its impact on overall progress toward the Product Goal.
Who is a Stakeholder in Scrum?
A person external to the Scrum Team with a specific interest in a product.
What is Technical Debt?
The overhead of maintaining the product due to less than ideal design decisions.
What happens when Scrum values are embodied by the team?
The Scrum pillars of transparency, inspection, and adaptation come to life and build trust.
What is Velocity in Scrum?
An indication of the amount of Product Backlog turned into an Increment during a Sprint.
