Definition of a Large Project
Depends on organization &/or complexity of projects being undertaken.
Key Criterion for whether a project needs multiple Scrum Masters or Product owners
If the project is large or small
If a project only requires 1 Scrum Master and 1 Product Owner
Then these individuals can normally handle any additional communication & synchronization efforts required by projects.
When applying Scrum at an Enterprise level, there may be many hundred Scrum Teams
Several thousand people working in multiple projects in programs or portfolios
What will applying Scrum processes of a program or portfolio level do?
It will have certain impacts on underlying projects.
How are Scrum projects generally executed?
- Through fundamental Scrum processes for typical small projects
- With additional inputs, tools & outputs for large projects (having multiple Product Owners & Scrum Masters)
What is the biggest challenge in a large Scrum project?
- Synchronization between teams and collaborations
- Challenges when applying Scrum at a program or portfolio level
Why do the biggest issues for a program/portfolio happen on a business state?
- Business priorities of different projects may conflict with each other
- May also conflict with the goals of the program or portfolio & need to be aligned
