SCRUM Flashcards
What’s SCRUM
It’s a framework for developing and sustaining complex products. It’s a framework for incremental product development
SCRUM is not a process or technique for building products rather
it’s a framework
SCRUM employs an
iterative, incremental approach to optimize predictability and control risk
Transparency, Inspection and Adaptation
Three pillars uphold every implementation of emphirical process control
Those performing the work and those accepting the work must share a common definition of Done.
Transparency
Users must frequently ——- scrum artifacts and progress toward a sprint goal
Inspect
If there is a process deviation and the resulting product is unacceptable, an adjustment should be made to avoid further deviation
Adaptation
What are the four formal events that scrum prescribes for inspection and adaptation
Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective
SCRUM team consists of…
Product Owners, Development Team and Scrum Master
Responsibile for maxmizing the value of the product and the work of the development team
Product Owner
Who is responsible for managing the product log
Product Owner
Professionals who do the work of delivering a potentially releasable increment of Done product
Development team
Development team
Turn the product backlog into increments of potentially releasable functionality
Title for Development Team member
Developer
What’s the minimum and maximum development team size
3 and 9
Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and enacted
Scrum Master
All Scrum Events are
time-boxed events
Container of all the events
the sprint itself
What’s a Sprint?
A time box of one month or less during which a done, useable, potentially releasable increment is created
What does Sprint contain?
Spring Planning, Daily Scrums, Development Work, Sprint Review and Spring Retrospective
Can a spring be cancelled before the sprint time box is over?
yes
Sprint Planning
Work to be performed is planned at the Sprint Planning
Spring Planning answers?
What needs to be delivered in the upcoming Spring and How can it be delivered?
What are the inputs to the sprint planning meeting
Product backlog, projected capactity of the development team and the past performance of the development team
What’s a sprint goal
An objective that will be met within the sprint
The Product backlog selected for the sprint plus the plan for delivering them
is called Sprint Backlog
A 15-min time boxed event for the development team to synchronize activities and create plan for the next 24 hours
Daily Scrum
Sprint Review
Sprint review is held at the end of the Sprint to inspect the increment and adapt the product backlog if needed
It’s an opportunity for the Scrum team to inspect itself and create a plan for improvements to be enacted in the next sprint
Sprint Retrospective
Represents work or value to provide transparency and opportunity for inspection and adaptation
Scrum Artifacts
An ordered list of everything that might be needed in a product
Product Backlog
It’s a living artifact
Product Backlog
An act of adding details, estimates and order to items in the product backlog
Product Backlog Refinement
Definition of Done
A shared understanding of what it means for the work to be complete, to ensure transparency
Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software
Agile Principle
Working software is the primary measure of progress
Agile Principle
The best architecture, requirements and designs emerge from self-organizing teams
