Securing rights but also about our responsibilities and their consequences.
What are the 2 teachings Jesus provides us in social justice
- Every human being is created in the image of God and redeemed by Jesus Christ, and therefore is invaluable and worthy of respect as a member of the human family.
- If we are all members of one human family then we are responsible for each other in all aspects of life.
What is the difference between a decision and a moral decision
A decision is a conclusion or resolution reached after consideration.
A moral decision can have a negative or positive outcome depending on the action we select.
What does the word apostle mean
Apostle comes from the Greek word apostolos, meaning “messenger,” especially one sent on a mission.
What does the word disciple mean
The word disciple comes from the word “discipline”
What does it mean to be the salt and light
Discipleship means being the “salt and light” for the world.
What are 3 ways we can be good disciples of Jesus
- Keep holy the Lord’s Day
- Study Catholic teaching and be confirmed
- Observe the Marriage laws of the Church
- Strengthen and support the Church
What is a parable
A short story told by Jesus to help teach a deeper meaning.
What are the 4 main themes of a parable
- Description of the King – These deal primarily with God’s nature, qualities, and attitudes in dealing with people
- “Kingdom” Responses – How we should act if we hope to “enter the Kingdom”
- Relationship with our Neighbours – address people’s relationship with one another and the world at large
- The Fulfillment of the Kingdom – refer to the future coming of God’s Kingdom in its fullness
What is a miracle
Miracles, or deeds, are real events that happened; parables are fiction.
The word miracle translates to “act of power”
Miracles demonstrate that the power of God was truly manifested in Jesus.
What are the 4 types of miracles found in the bible
Healing- Jesus relieves people’s physical sufferings
Exorcisms- Jesus drives out evil spirits
Restoration of Life- There are three occasions in the Gospels where Jesus restores people to life after their death
Nature Miracles- Jesus demonstrates control over the forces of nature
What is meant by the early church
Refers to the communities of believers of Jesus Christ who lived according to Jesus’ teachings in the first centuries.
What is pentecost
The feast of Pentecost celebrates the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to send
the Holy Spirit to guide the disciples and their followers as they proclaim
the truth of salvation in Jerusalem and beyond.
