What are the details of the NHS bowel cancer screening programme?
A
Men and women between 60 and 74 Every 2 years Can request kits if older than 74 Kit is a faecal occult blood test kit with instructions - results sent in 2 weeks

What is screening?
A
Identifying apparently healthy people who may be at risk of a disease or condition.
These people can then be offered further information/testing/treatment to reduce their risk or any complications that could arise.

What do The National Screening Committee do?
A
Advises ministers and the NHS the 4 UK countries about all aspects of screening and supports the implementation of screening programmes.
They make UK wide policies but it is up to each part of the UK to determine when/how to put them into practice, results in different services available in each area.
