What happened in Mrs Midas ?
Mrs Midas is about how a woman’s husband wished that everything he touched turned to gold. Duffy shoes how this effected their relationship and how Mrs Midas felt afterword’s. She shows how Mrs Midas was scared to be near her husband so she made him leave and live in their caravan.
What happens in In Mrs Tilchers Class ?
Duffy shows how she felt as a school girl with Mrs Tilchers as her teacher, she explains how Mrs Tilchers made her feel safe at school and how she loved coming to school just so she could see her teacher. she explains how she had a connection with her and how she felt lost when she had to leave Mrs Tilchers class to move up a year and get a new teacher.
What happened in The Way My Mother Speaks ?
The way my mother speaks is about how when Duffy left home she felt really homesick and how she used her mothers phrases to keep her relaxed. she shows how this effected her and how it gave her a chance to be more independent.
what happened in War Photographer ?
War photographer is about how a photographer felt doing his job having to face horrific things on a daily basis and had to capture them on his camera. she shows how he felt that no one cared what was happening to the people who were dying and how they never got any respect for serving their country.
What happened in Valentine ?
Valentine is about how Duffy gave her partner an onion on valentines day to symbolise how relationships have ups and downs and that something bad could happen and split them up. she links attributes of an onion to their relationship and this confuses the readers at first until they realise she is right with the points she puts across.
What happened in Originally ?
originally is about at a young age Duffy and her family moved from Scotland to England and how this effected her, she explains how after time she felt bad about how she was loosing her Scottish twang in her voice and she was becoming like everyone around her whereas when she first arrived she felt like she was different from everyone and that she didn’t belong there.
