Acanthosis
Thickening of the epidermisdue to an increase in the number of prickle layer cells
Atypical
Unusual - worries abt something but not worried enought to sag that the pp has cancer
Benign
Indicates chance of good recovery or not severe condition
Exudate
Escaping fluid from a space. May contain serum, pus, blood, and cell debris
Koebner Phenomenon
The tendency for particular diseases to form along a site of trauma
Malignant
Diseases that tend to become worse and cause death
Necrosis
Cell death as a result of injury, disease, or lack blood supply
Nikolsky’s Sign
Diasadhesion of skin assessed by light pressure at the edge of pre-existing bulla
Parakeratosis
Abnorma or incomplete keratinisation
Spongiosis
Oedema of the epidermis
Dermatomal
Area of skin that mainly supplied by nerve fiber. Spinal nerve to the front, back, and side of the body. Affect only one side of the body
Phototoxic
Damage to the skin when skin exposed to the sun after certain medication
Autoimmune
Immune system produces antobodies that attack your own tissue
Solar Elastosis
elastic tissue degeneration in the dermis due to prolonged sun exposure -> yellow thickened, coarsely wrinkled skin
Sporadic
Occuring occasionally or randomly or irregularly
