scientific methods Flashcards
scentific methods
a series of steps followed to solve problems
Hypothysis
an explanation that is based on prior scientific research
or observations and that can be tested
controlled experiment
an experiment that tests only 1 factor at a time by using a comparison of a control group with an experimental group
vaiable
a factor that changes in an experiment in order to test a hypothesis
control group
a group of subjects closely resembling the treatment group in many demographic variables but not reviving the active medication or factor under study and thereby serving as a comparison group when treatment results are evaluated
experimental group
a group of subjects who are exposed to the variable under study
step 1
ask a testable question
step 2
form a hypothosis
step 3
test the hypothosis
step 4
analyze the results
step 5
draw conclusion
step 6
share the results
