Scientific Method Flashcards
an attempt to explain a pattern observed repeatedly in the natural world
- has to be supported by evidence
- can change with new data
Scientific Theory
a rule that only describes a pattern in nature
Scientific Law
a collection of structures, cycles, or processes that relate to each other
Systems
physical, conceptual, or mathematical representation of a real phenomenon that is hard to directly observe
Models
uses evidence to construct testable explanations and predictions of natural phenomenons
Science
descriptive
Qualitative
numerical
Quanitative
does not change
Constant
stays the same for comparison
Control
same as the control but with the independent variable
Expiramental
only one is changed per experiment and is intentionally changed (x-axis)
Independent Variable
changes as a result of the independent variable, can observe the data, and can have more than one (y-axis)
Dependent Variable
