science - the particle model Flashcards

1
Q

what are the states of matter and their properties?

A

solid - relatively rigid, definite volume and shape. In a solid, the atoms and molecules are attached to each other.

Liquids – definite volume but able to change shape by flowing. In a liquid, the atoms and molecules are loosely bonded.

Gases – no definite volume or shape., liquid and gas

Q

what is diffusion?

A

process resulting from random motion of molecules by which there is a net flow of matter from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration.

Q

what is drag?

A

Drag is a mechanical force. It is generated by the interaction and contact of a solid body with a fluid
