Science - Structures and forces i did have to redo this test but thats cause Miss Stocks definitions were weird but on the second one i got a 100 percent Flashcards
What are the three types of structures?
Solid, Frame, and Shell
What does the function mean?
The purpose of the structure
What are the types of designs?
Manufactured or man made and natural
What is force?
Force is a push or pull causing an object to change shape, or movement.
What is a static load?
A static load is a load that is constant and does not vary. Another term for a static load is a dead load.
what is a dynamic load?
A dynamic load is any load that changes over time. It can be easily moved or swayed that could be by a gust of wind. Another term for a dynamic load is a live load.
What is the effect of a force the structure depends on.
magnitude, direction, and location.
what is the strength of the move shown as?
an arrow
What is a Newton force?
The standard unit for measuring forces.
What is a mass structure?
A mass structure is made by piling up similar materials into a particular shape or design.
What is structure strength?
The structures capacity to hold itself up with added weight.
What is structure stability?
Its ability to maintain in its position when there is force.
What is Aesthetics?
Aesthetics refers to the pleasing appearances or effect that the object has due to it’s design.
What is symmetry?
a balanced arrangement of mass on opposite sides of a line or plane.
What is external force?
Is a force that is applied on a structure by something else.
