Q

What is denitrification?

A

When Nitrates aren’t Assimilated but turned back into Nitrogen gas by denitrifying bacteria, especially in low Oxygen soil.

Q

What are producers?

A

Organisms that produce their own energy, can synthesize their own food and usually serve as the foundation for all food chains. For example: Plants and a few species of bacteria.

Q

What are primary consumers?

A

Also known as Herbivores, they are organisms that eat Producers. Primary Consumers are eaten by Secondary Consumers and Tertiary Consumers. Examples of Primary Consumers include: Grasshoppers and birds.

16
Q

What are secondary consumers?

A

Organisms that consumer Primary Consumers. They typically partake in predation and are usually Carnivores or Omnivores. Some examples include: Lions and hawks.

17
Q

What are tertiary consumers?

A

They are the ones who feed on Secondary consumers. They are thus called the top predators. They are also termed as apex predators and have no natural enemies.
