Science flash cards
What are Organelles?
Structures that perform specific functions within the cell.
What is a Cell?
The smallest unit that can perform all life processes.
What is a Nucleus?
A Nucleus contains the Cell’s DNA.
What is a Cell Membrane?
The barrier between the inside of a cell and the Cell’s environment.
What is a Cell Wall?
a rigid structure that surrounds the cell membrane and provides support for the cell.
What are Chloroplasts?
organelles in plant and algae cells in which photosynthesis takes place.
What is Mitochondria?
the site of cellular respiration allows the cells to use energy.
What is a Ribosome?
organelles that make proteins, which are building materials for the cell.
What is an Endoplasmic reticulum?
allows for the transport of cellular materials.
What is a Golgi complex?
packages materials to be transported throughout the cell.
What is a Vacuole
stores water in the cell.
What is a Cytoplasm?
fluid that the organelles are set it.
What is a Lysosome?
digests waste products in a cell.
What is a Nuclear envelope?
a double membrane that surrounds the nucleus.
What is a Nucleolus?
the organelle where ribosomes are made.
