Science DATA Flashcards
Norminal Data
catogories are named eg. apple orange
Discrete data
only perticular values allowed, whole naumber
Continuous Data
any numeric value is allowed
Controlled Variables
element which is constant and unchanged throughout the course of the investigation.
quantitative data
Quantitative data are measures of values or counts and are expressed as numbers. (e.g. how many; how much; or how often).
qualitive data
Qualitative data are measures of ‘types’ and may be represented by a name, symbol, or a number code.
When should you use a column graph
Column charts are useful for showing data changes over a period of time or for illustrating comparisons among items
When should you use a pie graph
Pie charts make sense to show a parts-to-whole relationship for categorical or nominal data.
When should you use a XY scatter
displaying and comparing numeric values, such as scientific, statistical, and engineering data.
Interpret Data
the process of using diverse analytical methods to review data and arrive at relevant conclusions.
Independent variable
Something that will stay the same through out the experiment
dependent variable
A Dependent variable is what happens as a result of the independent variable.
accuracy
the quality or state of being correct or precise.
precision
the quality or state of being precise : exactness
