What is plasma?
The liquid part of blood
What does plasma do?
Plasma carries nutrients and chemical messengers to cells. It also transports carbon dioxide and wastes from the cells.
What is the function of red blood cells?
Red blood cells transport oxygen to cells throughout the whole body
What are the functions of white blood cells?
White blood cells fight disease and alert the body of disease.
What are platelets?
Cell fragments that help form blood clots.
What is hemoglobin?
A protein that contains iron and chemically connects to oxygen molecules.
What is the lymphatic system?
The body system that takes excess fluid from the tissue cells and returns the fluid to the bloodstream.
What are lymph nodes?
The knobs of tissue that filter lymph trapping bacteria and other disease causing organisms in the fluid.
Is smoking bad for your heart?

How does hypertension affect your heart and blood vessels?
It can damage the blood vessels and cause the heart to work harder.
Why is hypertension referred to as a “silent killer”?
There are no obvious symptoms until the damage is really bad.
What happens during a heart attack?
When blood flow to part of the heart gets blocked so cells start to die.
