What are the characteristics of a scientist?
Must be curious, patient, share opinions, respect other person’s opinion.
What is the scientific method?
It is a systematic way of working that allows scientists to test hypothesis and draw their conclusions.
What is the scientific method parts?

What is reporting?
It is making a written or oral presentation.
What are the parts of a report?
Date, Aim, Equipment and Materials, Method, Diagram, Result, Conclusion.
Name 5 lab rules.
No eating or drinking in the lab, no playing in the lab, no running in the lab, no turning on the gas taps, always pay attention to all instructions given.
Name all the caution symbols.
Harmful, Toxic, Corrosive, Biohazard, Flammable, Oxidizing, Explosive, Radioactive.
Measuring Cylinder
Is used to measure the volume of liquids in the lab.
Test Tube
Is used for the purpose of substances which are placed in it.(for doing scientific tests).
Beaker Graduated
To measure certain volumes and for mixing substances together.
Beaker Plain
Is used for mixing/combining substances.
Pipette
Is an instrument used to measure and transfer a very specific volume of liquid.
Burette
Is used to measure and deliver varying volumes of liquid during certain types of liquid during certain types of experiments.
Bunsen Burner
Is used to provide heat in the lab.
Tripod Stand
Is used with the Bunsen burner to provide a stand on which objects can be placed over the flame when being heated.
Wire Gauze
Is placed on top of the tripod stand when needed so that the flame from the Bunsen burner does not directly touch the bottom of the container.
Thermometer
To measure temperature of the substances in the lab.
Microscope
Used to examine very small objects which are too small to be seen with the naked eye.
Petri Dish
Is used to hold specimens which may be needed for linen experiment.
Evaporation Dish
Is used for the purpose of getting rid of the liquid portion of a solution by the process of evaporation.
Dripping/Dropping Pipette
Is used to place unspecified quantity of a liquid substance into an experiment.
Test Tube Holder
Used to safety hold test tubes while being used.
Test Tube Rack
Is an easy, safe and convenient way of keeping test tubes until they are ready to be used.
Conical Flask
Is used in the lab for various purposes.
Filter Funnel
Is used with filter paper placed in it for the purpose of filtering solutions.
Balances
Used to find the mass of objects.
Metre Ruler
Is used to measure the length of objects in the lab.
What is a Label?
It is a piece of paper, cloth, metal ect. Placed on an object or article. It provides information of the object.
What information is provided on the label?
It includes the name, maufactuer, expiry date, content and warnings.
What are Caution Labels?
It gives information about any dangers associated with the product.
What are the Caution label color code.
Red-dangerous, yellow-a hazard, Green-safe to use, Blue-an action should be done.
Measurement
The size, length, or amount of something.
Measuring
Involves the use of an instrument that is calibrated for the specific purpose.
