Science Flashcards
Is a push or pull on an object. It is a vector quantity.
Force
Refers to the size or strength of force. It is expressed in Newton (N).
Magnitude
Points where the force goes.
Direction
Where the force is going.
Head
Tells the magnitude.
Body
Tells the origin.
Tail
The location where the force is applied.
Point of Application
Is the straight line passing through the point of application and is parallel to the direction of force.
Line of Action
Are forces where objects are touching or contact with each other.
Contact forces
Are forces where objects do not touch or contact with each other.
Non-Contact Forces
Force given by a person or object to another person or object.
Applied Force
Is the force acting against or opposite a object in contact with which makes the movement of the object to slow down.
Frictional Force
Is the force that acts perpendicular to the surface of the object in contact with.
Normal Force
Is the force applied by string, rope, chain on cable.
Tension Force
Frictional, Normal, Applied, and Tension.
Contact Forces
Is the force of attraction between two objects.
Gravitational Force
Are forces exerted on a field of attraction on repulsion as in the case of magnets and other magnetic materials.
Magnetic Force
Are forces that are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction.
Balanced Forces
