Sciatic foramen (479-485) Flashcards
Name structures that attach to the greater trochanter of the femur;
Gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, piriformis, obturator internus, gemeilli, Vastus lateralis (quadraceps femorois).
Ischiofemora lligament
Name the structrues that attach to the lesser trochanter of the femur;
Psoas major, iliacus
Name the muscles that attach to the linea aspera;
(Linea aspera is on posterior side of femur). X3 Adductor muscles- Adductor brevis, Adductor longus, Adductor magnus. x2 Quadraceps- Vastus Medius, Vastus Lateralis. X1 Hamstring- Biceps femoris (short head)
Name the structures that pass through the greater sciatic foramen above the piriformis;
Suprapiriform foramen- Superior gluteal artery and vein, superior gluteal nerve.
Name the structures that pass through the greater sciatic foramen below the piriformis;
Infrapiriform foramen- sciatic nerve,, inferior gluteal artery and vein, infeior gluteal nerve, pudendal nerve,nerve to obturator interus, nerve to quadratus femoris.
Name the structures that pass through the lesser sciatic foramen.
What separates the greater and lesser sciatic foramen?;
Internal pudendal artery and vein (both), pudendal nerve (both), obturator internus tendon, nerve to obturator internus.
The greater sciatic foramen is larger and separated from the lesser sciatic forament by the sacrospinous ligament.
Name the external rotators of the hip;
POGO-Q muscles. Piriformis, Obturator Internus, Gemelli (superior and inferior), Obturator Externus, Quadratus femoris.
(All insert to greater trochanter expect Obturator externus [trochanteric fossa] and quadratus femoris [quadrate tuberosity on intertrochanteric crest] ) (All innverated buy nerve to [muscle name])
