School Book Flashcards
drawing science experiment equipment?
What is heat?
A type of energy
Heat is measured in?
Joules
what is important when drawing a beaker
corners are curved
EXPERIMENT - describe the experiment comparing different flames to boil water
Results of the flame experiment
see image
Complete vs incomplete combustion - describe
Water temperature:
BP?
FP?
Body temp?
BP = 100
FP = 0
Body temp = 37
What does salt do to the BP of water?
Increases the BP of water
What is volume?
The amount of space a solid, liquid or gas takes up - measured in cm3 (units)
What do you use to measure liquids?
Measuring cylinder is used to measure the voulme of a liquid.
How to measure regular shapes?
L x W x H
How to measure volume of irregular solids?
describe the plasticine expereiment
1) Measuring cylinder - measure water left in the beaker before and after adding plasticine of different shape
2) Eureka can - measure the liquid that flows out in to the measuring cylinder - catch the water in the measuring cylinder from the spout of the eureka can.
The volume of displaced water is equal to the volume of the object
1) What is mass?
2) how is it measured?
1) the amount of ‘matter’ that something is made of.
2) measured using a electronic balance
Unit is grams (g) - light objects
kilograms (kg) - heavy objects
