a psychotic disorder that affects approx. 1% of the population
- sufferers cannot distinguish between reality and their own imagination

define psychosis
A
term used to describe a severe mental health problem where the individual loses contact with reality

define neurosis
A
individual is aware they have problems

the stats and percentages
A
- 25% = will get better after only one episode of the illness
- 50-60% will improve but continue to have doubts of the illness = the remainder will have persist ant difficulties (Stirling and Helliwell)
