Procedure
A
- Researchers visited babies and mothers in their homes every month for the first year then again at 18 months.
- Mothers were interviewed about the kind of protests their babies showed in seven every day
- E.g. adult leaving the room and babies anxiety response to unfamiliar people.
- Seperation and stranger anxiety measured.

Findings
A
- 25-32 weeks, 50% of babies showed separation anxiety (specific attachments).
- 40 weeks, 80% had specific attachments

Conclusion
A
Attachments made with adults who play and communicates, not just feeds. There is a pattern of attachment formation suggesting that the process is biological.
