Scene 9 Flashcards
What do the “gaudy tin flowers” represent?
They represent the death of Blanche and Mitch’s relationship and contrast the first flowers Mitch gave Blanche at the beginning of the play.
What is happening in the quote: “What I been missing all summer.”
Here Mitch has learnt the truth about Blanches past and so he tries to take advantage of her in a last ditch attempt to have sex with her.
How do we know that Mitch no longer has feelings for Blanche?
When he says “You’re not clean enough”
What happens when Mitch “tears the paper lantern of the light bulb”
When he does this it demonstrates to the audience that Blanches façade has failed and that Mitch can now see her for who she truly is.
