[Stella is lying down… her face is serene in the early morning sunlight … (Blanches) eyes and lips have that almost narcotized tranquility that is in the faces of Eastern idols”
“I’m going to do something. Get hold of myself and make myself a new life!”
“Do you remember Shep Huntleigh … Texas is literally sprouting gold in his pockets”
“Stella, I can’t live with him … he’s your husband / The only way to live with such a man is to - go to bed with him!”
