A

They don’t hydrate the child. Sugary drinks make the child more thirsty.

What types of CPR is given for different age groups?

A

Children are given 15 compressions to two breaths (15:2).

  • Two fingers used for compressions for infants
  • One hand is used for small children
  • Two hands are used for teens/young adults and adults

Discretion needs to be made so that compressions are only being made 1/3 of the way down the chest.

What is a burette and why do we use them on children?

A

A burette is a small chamber attached to an IV that allows small amount of medication to be administered at a time. Once the burette is empty, the medication stops.

This is more effective and accurate in children.
