Employee has damaged equipment and is exhibiting unprofessional behavior towards co-workers and the public.
What steps would you take to correct this situation?
A
- Meet w/employee to figure out why he is behaving in this matter.
- warn the employee the seriousness of their action and remind them of DWR policies.
- Document the meeting discussion, as well as, what occurred prior to the meeting using times, dates, names, etc.
- Inform supervisor and upper management
- Refer to the Employee to the Employee Assistance program or organization/person that could help correct the behavior
- Issue a corrective action memo to the employee to highlight the seriousness of the situation, and then monitor the progress closely
- Let them know this type of behavior is not acceptable and if it continues, it will lead to adverse disciplinary action, which could lead to suspension w/o pay, reduction in pay, demotion, or even dismissal.
- if the situation is deem to serious or the behavior conditions, then move forward with adverse action
