Scenario 10 Flashcards
What are the ligaments of the ACJ?
Please fill this in (seth)
What is a sprain of the ACJ
Acromioclavicular joint subluxation- this is a grade I AC joint injury occuring when the acromion process is driven downwards and the clavicle is left behind. It involves the stretching of or partially tearing of the AC ligament and joint capsule.
Problem List?
Ache at rest 2/10
Sharp pain when horizontally flex and elevate > 90°
Ax tests?
Scarf test - positive sign is pain over AC joint.
Accessory Mobs - AP
- Longlitudinal Caudad
Treatment choices?
Mobs – AP and longlitudinal caudad to decrease stiffness at joint and decrease pain. Grade III for 3 X 30 secs.
Strengthening exercises to the anterior deltoids and trapezius muscles as these are stabililzers of the AC joint.
Excercises to the glenohumeral joint to increase ROM as initial treatment is conservative e.g. ice and immobilization so joint could be stiff.
What markers would you use to ascertain treatment effects?
Subjective Markers Pain – VAS at rest and during movement Objective Markers ROM Restriction during accessory mobs
