15
Q

How does air go from the bottle to the face piece?

A

Dual Redundant Pressure Reducer which has 6 components:
1. High pressure inlet
2. Primary reducer (feed) 5500 to 85-110psi
3. Secondary reducer (feed) 5500 to 145 - 170psi
4. Low Cylinder transfer valve
5. Automatic transfer valve
6. Relief Valve

Both reducers are connected by the automatic transfer valve

Reduction in the primary feed line automatically causes the system to move to secondary line activating the Vibralert (also switches at 33% air)

16
Q

How does the hand held console get power/ gauge readings from the pak?

A

Through the transducer which takes power to the console and the pressure from the bottle through two lines.

17
Q

At what PSI does the vibralert activate at?

A

1815

18
Q

At what PSI does the RIC UAC relief valve activate at?

A

5500psi

19
Q

What does the SEMSII console have on it?

A

Large sweep gauge indicating the pressure in the cylinder (must be within 10% of the pressure from the cylinder sweep gauge)

3 buttons:
1. Red - PASS activation
2. Yellow - reset, acknowledge, turn off
3. Grey - ID login, and withdrawal from structure acknowledgment

Lights around red pass alarm:
1. Green flashing: 34% - 100% air, normal operations
2. Pass alarm activation or <34%: alternating red lights

Buddy system HUD under sweep gauge:
1. Green light = 100-50% air
2. Yellow = 34-49% air
3. Red <34%

ID lights:
1. Red evacuation light (running person logo)
2. Green ID light (shows “ID”)
3. Yellow range Light (triangle with radio wave symbol)
4. Red Pass alarm (triangle with “!” in the middle)

20
Q

What does the regulator deliver PSI at?

A

Inhaling - 0.8 to 1.5 PSI
Exhaling - 1.5 to 3.0 psi

21
Q

What PSI and LPM does the purge valve deliver?

A

15.7 PSI
125 to 225 lpm of flow

22
Q

What is the button on the regulator called, and what is its intended purpose?

A

Air saver switch
Saves air so there is no free flowing air when regulator is not in use, but cylinder has charged the system

23
Q

What is the spray bar?

A

it releases air into the face mask

24
Q

What are the lights on the HUD on the regulator?

A

2 green lights: 100-76% air
1 green light: 51-75% air
1 amber light: 34-50% air
1 red light flashing: <34%
1 red light on right hand side indicates low battery

25
Q

What is the max working pressure of the regulator?

A

300PSI

26
Q

When does the vibralert activate?

A

When the secondary system in the Dual Redudant Bypass system has been activated at 135PSI

27
Q

What is the face mask made of?

A

High temperature polycarbonate

28
Q

What temp can the face mask withstand?

A

it meets the NFPA required 500f for 5mins, then 1800f for 10 seconds then a 6” drop test. Must maintain integrity, visibility through mask is not a requirement

29
Q

What does the headdress made of?

A

kevlar

30
Q

What other features on the face mask?

A

Removable nose cap with high visibility inhalation valves (red)
Communication ports on either side of mask

31
Q

Where does the exhalation go?

A

Through the centre regulator, through a one way valve

32
Q

How does the regulator maintain its seal to mask?

A

A foam washer and a locking mechanism
