TANK INFORMATION DOT # LAST HYDRO TEST DATE MANUFACTURE DATE SERIAL NUMBER
MAINTENANCE
HYDROSTATIC TESTING:
WHEN SUBJECTED TO EXTREME HEAT, DENTS OR GOUGES, DEFORMATION, OR ANY SUSPECTED DAMAGE
CHECKED: MONTHLY, DAILY, BEFORE AND AFTER EACH USE
15 YEAR LIFE EXPECTANCY
Bottles due for hydrostatic testing should be tagged and sent to st 36
SCBA bottles should never be filled at a rate greater than 1500 psi/minute or over 4500 psi
DO NOT OPEN BOTTLES UNLESS ATTACHED TO A REGULATOR OR PRESSURE REDUCER
Sensor module assembly
Mounted on back frame (adjacent to pressure reducer)
Powered by 6 “AA” batteries
ALERTS OF DOWNED FIREFIGHTER
mounted LEDs and sounder
Automatic activation upon system pressurization
ACTIVATION:
GREEN FLASHING LED, ACTIVATION CHIRP
PRE-ALARM:
MOTIONLESS FOR 20 SEC, RED FLASHING LED, RESET- MOVE BA OR PRESS YELLOW BUTTON ON SIDE OF CONTROL CONSOLE
FULL ALARM:
10-12 SEC AFTER PRE ALARM, RED FLASHING LED, RESET- PRESS YELLOW RESET BUTTON TWICE ON SIDE OF CONTROL CONSOLE
TURNING OFF:
BLEED AIR FROM SYSTEM, PRESS YELLOW RESET BUTTON ON SIDE OF CONTROL CONSOLE TWICE, LISTEN FOR CONFIRMATION OF DEACTIVATION CHIRP
LOW BATTERY:
ORANGE FLASHING LED, ACCOMPANIED BY A CHIRP EVERY 2 SEC, once outside IDLH, change batteries immediately, batery status can be checked by pressing the yellow button on control console twice- if LEDs flash to white immediately followed by green, then your battery is good
Remote gauge assembly
MECHANICAL GAUGE READS WITHIN 250 PSI OF PRIMARY CYLINDER GAUGE
MESSURES EMPTY, 10, 20, 30, FULL
red= 1/3 cylinder Green= full cylinder
RED BUTTON: MANUAL ALARM
WILL WORK EVEN WHEN SYSTEM IS NOT PRESSURIZED (AS LONG AS BATERIES ARE IN GOOD CONDITION)
yellow button: push twice to reset
Pressure reducer assembly
PRIMARY REDUCER VALVE:
mounted on the back frame (adjacent to sensor module)
REDUCES PRESSURE FROM 4500 PSI TO BETWEEN 85-110 PSI
air exits through low pressure hose and/or dual EBSS if in use
SECONDARY REDUCER VALVE:
FUNCTIONS IF PRIMARY REDUCER FAILS
ACTIVATES VIBRALERT
AUTOMATIC TRANSFER VALVE:
TRANSFERS AIR FROM PRIMARY TO THE SECONDARY REDUCER
ACTIVATED IF THE SECONDARY IS IN USE
LOW CYLINDER TRANSFER VALVE
WILL ACTIVATE VIBRALTER: AT APPROXIMATELY 33% OF FULL REMATED CYLINDER PRESSURE (1500 PSI) OR IF SECONDARY IS IN USE
Mask mounted regulator assembly
SUPPLIES AND MAINTAINS AIR TO THE FACE PIECE
ATTACHED TO LOW PRESSURE HOSE:
constructed of stainless steel and plastic
Spring loaded regulator release latch
POSITIVE PRESSURE
REGULATOR STARTS UPON INHALATION
air saver switch stops the free flow of air during donning and doffing
RED PURGE VALVE:
ALLOWS AIR TO BYPASS IF REGULATOR FAILS
DEFOGS MASK VIA THE SPRAY BAR
purge valve flows at 125-225 liters per minute when fully opened
For emergency use only- low pressure hose can be disconnected to allow regulator to be joined to another BA
HOUSES VIBRALERT
regulator faiure:
Fails in open possition- open purge valve and gate down on cylinder valve; immediately exit building
Fails in closed possition- open purge valve and make sure cylinder valve is completely open; immediately exit building
DO NOT FLUSH OR SUBMERGE REGULATOR IN WATER!
Face piece assembly
KEVLAR HEAD HARNESS WITH FLAME RESISTANT STRAPS
HIGH TEMPERAFURE POLYCARBONATE LENS WITH ABRASION RESISTANT AND ANTI-FOG COATINGS
dual voice emitters for mounting communication equipment on either side
Fit check: performed daily and prior to each use
FIT TEST: PERFORMED YEARLY BY PERSONEL AT ST 36 10% gain or loss of bodyweight Pregnancy Facial or dental surgery
CLEANING:
MILD SOAP AND WATER
DISINFECT WITH HYPOCHLORITE SOLUTION OR 2 TBL SPOONS BLEACH/ 1 GALLON OF WATER
don’t use paper towel to dry-will scratch lens
Rinse with cool water and air dry
Visual heads-up display assembly: HUD
Located on the mask mounted regulator
KEEPS USER I FORMED OF AIR AND BATERY STATUS:
full: 2 green, steady LED LIGHTS
3/4: 1green, steady LED light
1/2: 1 yellow, flashing LED light flashes 1 time/sec
1/3: 1 red, flashing LED light flashes 10 times/sec
Low battery: round LED on right side will light for 20 sec and then flash 1time/sec until batteries are changed
Dual emergency breathing support system (EBSS)/ buddy breathing hose
ALLOWS USER TO CONNECT TO ANOTHER USER WITHOUT HAVING TO DISCONSCT THE REGULATOR SUPPLY HOSE
ALLOWS USERS TO MANEUVER UP TO FIVE FEET APART
STORED ON WAIST MOUNT HARNESS
either port may be used (both connections dont have to be plugged in)
Always keep covered with connections pointing downward
When connected, both users will continue to breath down the lowest bottle first. The first user’s bottle to reach empty will then automatically transfer over and begin to draw off of the remaining air supply in their partners bottle
