Scapulae Flashcards
What type of bones is the scapulae?
Flat bone
What is the shape of scapulae ?
Triangular
Describe the surfaces of the scapulae
Anterior ( costal ) surface, it has subscapular fossa
Posterior surface, it has spine of the scapulae, that divide the posterior surface into two fossa:
Supraspinous fossa , infraspiouns fossa
What is larger infraspinous fossa or supraspinous fossa
Infraspinous fossa
How is the spine related to the acromion?
Acrimone is an expansion to the spine of the scapulae
Describe the borders of the scapulae
Medial border,vertical
Superior border, horizontal
Lateral border, vertical but slightly inclinedمائل, is the thickest and strongest border
What is the name of cavity on the lateral bolder of the scapula,
What does it attach on,
What are the structures above and below this cavity
Glenoid cavity
Head of the humerus
Suproglenoid tubercle, infraglenoid tubercle
What are the angles of the scapulae
Superior angle
Inferior angle
Lateral angle
What are the two main processes of the scapula?
Accomion: extension of the spine of the scapulae, from posterior surface, connected to lateral end of the clavicle.
Coracoid process: anterior surface of the scapulae, inferior to the lateral on third of the clavicle
What is the name of the two notch of the scapulae
Greater scapular notch( spinoglenoid notch)
Supra scapular notch
Describe the position of the greater scapular notch
The region between the lateral angle of the scapulae and the attachement of the spine to the posterior surface of the scapulae
What is the position of suprascapular notch
Medial to the root of the coracoid process
What is the infraglenoid tubercle an origin for
Long head of triceps brachii muscle
What is the supraglenoid tubercle an origin for
Long head of biceps brachii muscle
