A
  • Abduct arm at right angle with body to draw the scapula laterally
  • Slow breathing to obliterate lung
  • IR: 2” on top of shoulder
  • Perpendicular to midscapular
    2” inferior to coracoid process
  • AP projection of scapula

RAO/LAO Position scapula

A
  • Pt in RAO or LAO (PA Oblique)
  • Affected scapula center to grid
  • Flex elbow
  • Place back of hand on posterior thorax
  • 45-60 rotate body to IR
  • lateral scapula
  • POSI 2: patient reach across front of chest and grasp opposite shoulder

Lorenze and Lilienfeld Method

A
  • patient in recumbent
  • center scapula to the midline of grid
  • oblique image of scapula
  • degree of obliquity depends on the position of arm
  • Lorenz: arm of affected side at thr right angle, flex elbow, rest hand to pt head, body slightly forward
  • Lilienfeld method: extend arm of affected side obliquely pward, hand rest on head, body slightly forward
