A written scale is a statement that says the world-to-map comparison.

A

A ratio scale gives a ratio comparison that says how much one unit on the map equals x number of the same units on land.

Ex. 1:140 000
1cm= 140 000cm
1cm= (140 000 d 100 000)km
1cm= 1.4km
