What is a scale?

When you draw something it’s not always easy to make everything look the right size. you usually have to draw things and places smaller than they are in real life. When a thing or place is drawn smaller and correctly you say it is drawn to scale

In words, every centimetre on the map represent 3000cm or 30 m in real life

2 x 420 = 840 km in real life
