They restraining themselves from the intake of food and drink during the daylight hours for a whole month. They also practice self-control in all areas as well as giving up sex, swearing and smoking.

Buy an evening meal called iftar with family and friends and extra prayers with readings from the Quran

Allah gives them strength to overcome hunger, reminds them of hungry people across the world, that was the Quran was first given in this month, helps develop self control and patience, helps make up for sins, submitting to Allah is more than going without possessions, remind them there is more to life than food, more time to develop spirituality and cleanses the soul
