He was a monk who preached sermons in which he criticized Lorenzo.

He said god told him that a terrible dagger would be raised over the city, he warned that there would be a terrible day for florence of disaster.

Some of savonarola’s enemies had him arrested and tortured. He confessed to 42 pages of ‘crimes’ and that his prophecies had not come from god

After he confessed on may 23 1498 he was hanged and his body burned
