Saturation Flashcards
1
Q
How are saturation height functions determined?
A
- cap curves
- log-derived saturations
2
Q
What is a saturation model?
A
An expression providing Sw as a function of Pc (or h) and permeability and/or porosity
3
Q
What are the advantages of modelling in normalized PC (PC_IFT1)?
A
- Independent of lab method/fluid (of measuring Pc_lab)
- Independent of reservoir fluid system
4
Q
What are the buildup steps of a saturation model?
A
1) Select base function (Lambda, Brooks-Corey or Thomeer)
2) Convert PC_lab to PC_IFT1
3) Fit the capcurve
4) Get 3 fitting parameters and plot each against perm, por and sqrt(perm/por)
5) Substitute trends back into the base function
5
Q
What is the preferred base function to fit cap curve and what are the three parameters in that function?
A
Brooks-Corey
- Swirr
- Pce
- n (describes shape of transition zone)
