- Bremner, the impressionist satisned Major as weak, leading a divided party and not in touch with the public
- Guardian cartoonist Steve Bell - caricature him wearing his pants outside his trousers, as a pale grey echo of both: Superman and Supermac, a parody of Macmillan
- Wasn’t viscous or particularly cruel - Major was more popular than his party.
- Spitting image, Majors puppet was changed from a circus performer to a grey man who ate dinner with his wife in silence, whilst at the same time nursing an unrequited crush on his colleague, Bottomley - end of premiership, puppet shown observing the latest Fiasco and ineffectively murmuring ‘oh dear’.
- The secret diary of John Major, age 47 and 3/4, in which Major was portrayed as a naive nincompoop - magazines also ran a series of cartoons in which Major was illustrated serving a number of bizarre purposes e.g. spotters arioruk
