How long is the trail line?
120’ with 5 lb shot bag; controls and guides rescue equipment to the desired location; can use two at once; mandatory use with litter to keep parallel to longitudinal axis of helo
What is the burn time of MK-58?
45 minute burn time; deployed >50’
What is the MK-124?
Vest orange smoke / red flare; 20s
What is the burn time of MK-25?
10-20 Minute burn time
WARNING: SHALL NOT be launched while in hover because of valve plug possibly striking aircraft or personnel.
What should be done with the protective and arming caps of MK-25?
Both the protective and arming caps should be kept until marker is deployed. If marker is not deployed, resafe the marker.
What are the seven things in your vest?
Radio, LPU, SEBD, Knife, Mirror, Smoke, Sidewinder
What is PRC-17A?
Liferaft radio on guard (V/U)
What is a quick splice?
Hook has been intentionally / unintentionally severed from the hoist cable and quick splice affords opportunity to fit severed hoist cable with new hook; does not affect weight requirements; 10s setup
What are the night / IMC procedures?
Shall be deployed via hoist; Rescue swimmer (via 4” Chemlight on mask), hook, and strop shall be illuminated.
What are the short haul limits?
40 KIAS / 30’ above highest obstacle / 20 AOB
What is the minimum SAR equipment?
SAR Curtain contents, Rescue Hook, SAR Bag contents, Trail Line, Litter
What are the additional requirements for overwater SAR?
2x MK-58s, 4x Mk-25s, 3x marine markers, 1x electronic datum marking device when available, 1 weak link / MPLR carried
What is in the SAR Bag?
3x cranials, 2x wool blankets, 3x LPUs
