Because housewives’ worlds only revolve around the household, their topics of conversation tend to be insignificant household related matters (i.e. supermarket discounts, idle gossip)
What does it imply when the persona says “Oh, but that happens now and again”?
The persona trivializes his wife’s mood swings and depression
