Climate change has meant that sea levels will rise by 0.6m and could breach the peninsula at the lowest point, effectively cutting it off from the mainland

Why have rock groynes been implemented?
To limit the movement of sediment along the beach and try to build up wider, sandy beach

Absorbed the wave energy and helped to reduce erosion, at 1.6m per yr without Rock Groynes
Also helped to stop the Poole harbour entrance from getting blocked
Why is beach nourishment being used at sandbanks?
They use beach nourishment to try and keep the beach wide and sandy
what are the intentional impacts of Beach nourishment at sandbanks?
it has helped reduce the rates of erosion
Also taking sand from the harbour entrance helps to prevent it from clogging
What are the unintentional impacts of Management strategies at Sandbanks?
The aim of management was to “hold the the line” and prevent any further erosion
Instead The schemes have been so successful that it has resulted in the increase of beach width
