look at overall tone of each paragraph and how they connect

read the answer choices carefully and ensure they idea fits what is being asked

simplify the concepts of the passage as much as possible

understand how all the answer choices can (not) relate to the question being asked

stay specific to the passage, such as when writing the main idea. pay attention to how the author writes (word choices)

make sure your answer correlates to the specific argument in the question

when you are “researching” for the question, ensure that, wherever you find your answer, you read it word for word (v carefully)

try and understand the passage from the author’s POV rather than the reader’s POV

read each option, and write a simple summary next to each one

look at the context around the answer area

instead of trying to pick the correct answer if unsure, try and eliminate the others

take the passage very literally. do not try and read too far into things
