Sampling Distribution Flashcards
1
Q
What is the central limit theorem?
A
- CLT: if the sample size is large enough (n = 50+) the distribution of sample means is Normal
If the population/sample falls under the central limit theorem, it can be right, left, or symmetrical skewed, but the distribution of sample means will always be Normal (symmetrical)
2
Q
Define sampling distribution
A
- Sampling distribution: the distribution of values taken by a statistic in all possible samples of the same size from the same population.
3
Q
If we had all sample means based on all possible SRS’s, what can we conclude about the population mean and the population SD?
A
x-bar = µ
s = σ/√(n)
