Q

change in plant cover across a footpath using a transect

A

1) lay tape in a straight line covering a fixed distance either side of a footpath
2) select sites along the tape to take samples
3) place a quadrat at the first sample site. note the number of plant species in the quadrat
4) record any important abiotic factors at the sample site (e.g, moisture content )
5) retreat procedure for remaining sampling sites
wash hands after

Q

measuring abiotic factors

A

digital sensors provide a quick way to note any changes to abiotic factors between sampling locations
sensors should be regularly calibrated to ensure they provide a true reading
