There were 7 adult males and 2 adult females. 5 of them were studied intensively and the other 4 were used to confirm the findings of the study. The 5 that were studied intensively spent between 6 and 17 nights in the lab and were tested with 50-77 awakenings. Those who were used to confirm the findings of the study spent between 1 or 2 nights in the lab and were tested with 4-10 awakenings in total.
