Sales transactions Flashcards
1
Q
What is the basis of sales transactions (5)
A
- Once the customer has entered the pharmacy, try to acknowledge their presence by making eye contact and smiling.
- You might also want to greet them verbally. This will make you seem approachable.
- Keep an eye on the customer and if it looks like they need assistance at any time, you can approach them and offer it – if the customer has to wait too long for help you might lose their custom.
- The layout and display of the shop should be designed so that customers can clearly see popular or quick selling items.
- Not all customers who want to buy something will ask you directly for help; some items such as condoms or pregnancy tests may be sensitive areas.

Q
What should you do when patients need some help with sales transactions (3)
A
- You will need good product knowledge of medicines as well as other items you sell in your pharmacy; this may include advice, features and benefits of each product.
- Ask them some questions, and when you are clear about what they need you can start to match their needs with the products you have on sale.
- If you are left waiting while a customer is unable to decide on a product, kindly let them know you have to serve someone else, but be sure to go back to them later.

Q
What is link selling/second sales (2)
A
- This is when you sell another product to the customer based on what they are already buying.
- Once the person has agreed to buy the first item this would be the best time to suggest something else to go with it.
4
Q
How do you close a sale (3)
A
- Maybe ask what size is required
- how they would like to pay for their purchase?
- Finally, always take payment in line with your company policies.
