Safety Procedures Flashcards
What are the 4 main areas of safety?
- Personal Safety
- Component Safety
- Electrical Safety
- Chemical Safety
What does Personal Safety consist of?
Trip Hazard avoidance
Proper Lifting Techniques
Safety gear usage
What is Component safety?
The action taken to prevent damage to the components that you’re going to be working with.
What is Electrical Safety?
Protecting yourself against the threat of electrocution and ensuring that your equipment is properly grounded, and the equipment is plugged into a surge protector. To prevent damage to your equipment during a high-voltage event.
What is Chemical Safety?
The proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals.
What is a Trip Hazard?
Occurs when there is an object where people walk.
What is a Proper Lifting Technique?
Always lift with your legs and not your back when lifting heavy equipment.
What is Safety Gear Usage?
Using safety goggles, gloves and mask
What is the biggest threat to your components?
ESD or Electrical Static Discharge.
How does ESD occur?
When a path allows electrons to rush from a statically charged body into a component that doesn’t have a charge.
How do you prevent damage to your equipment during a high-voltage event?
If working inside:
Your computer should always be unplugged before you start working inside the case.
If using:
The equipment is plugged into a surge protector.
Knowing how to properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials and chemicals, is an example of what Safety protocol?
Chemical Safety.
To prevent someone from tripping over a cord or cable, is an example of what Personal Safety practice?
Trip Hazard Avoidance.
If you hurt your back lifting heavy equipment by not using ur legs, what is this not an example of?
Proper Lifting Techniques.
When working around certain components you may be using chemical compounds, what Personal Safety practice should you follow?
Safety Gear Usage
Using safety goggles, gloves and mask.
