Safety Precautions Flashcards
1
Q
Human body
A
Limit voltage to be wary of is 15 V.
Body resistance is 1 kilo-ohm to 500 kilo-ohm.
Human killed by 25mA and highest current deemed safe is 5mA, 12mA muscle will contract.
2
Q
Radar safety
A
- keep antenna scan sector clear of large metallic objects
- tilt dish upwards
- do not operate RADAR during refueling ops
- do not operate RADAR if personnel are within the safety zone
- set up cordons and warning signs.
3
Q
Battery safety
A
- danger of acid burn while refilling, topping up
- danger of explosion due to short circuit while batteries are being charged
- hydrogen gas due to charging - highly explosive
- ensure adequate ventilation.
4
Q
High voltage
A
Using one hand to do electrical work is NOT a hazard.
Short circuit capacitor after disconnecting from de-energised circuit.
Do not use thin soled shoes with metal plates.
Do not wear loose or flapping clothing.
Tools and equipment containing exposed metal parts should not be used in any area within 4 feet.
5
Q
Electrical fire
A
Cut off the electrical supply to the fire zone.
Call fire department.
Use Carbon dioxide fire extinguisher.
