Primary function of Ground Control Station.
- Controls the UAV during execution of the mission.
The GCS and TOL shelters are the system’s main ground control units. They centralize all commands transmitted to the UAV and all report transmissions received from the MUAV for the operator to handle. The TOL shelter provides the man-machine interface required by the system operators to perform UAV takeoff and landing. The GCS provides the man-machine interface required by the system operators to perform UAV control throughout the mission and evaluate the data received.
The GCS enables the operators to perform the following primary functions:
- Organizing all pilot commands and routing them to the ADLS for transmission to the UAV.
- Distributing all UAV reports and video signals received by the ADLS to all operators’ displays.
- Mission planning, flying the UAV and in-flight monitoring of its subsystems.
- Controlling payloads.
- Pre-flight testing.
