what does a fuse consist of
A
a thin strip of metal that melts and breaks if the current exceeds a safe level

what does a fuse do
A
it stops a higher then normal current flow and so protects the equipment and electrical components from overheating, which could cause a fire

A
a safety device similar to a fuse which is used to prevent too much current from flowing in an electrical circuit
